Startup t-shirt printing service seeks to challenge the way t-shirts are bought for personal and fundraising purposes

A California-based startup is looking to change the way people think about clothing. Instead of mass production, WDFA Custom Tees promotes unique clothing.

It’s pretty cool to be able to provide solutions to our public schools that not only save them time and headaches, but provide them with an avenue for fundraising.

FREMONT, California, USA, Feb. 21, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — A California-based t-shirt printing startup is focusing on how nonprofits, public schools and consumers in general can buy custom t-shirts and fundraise in ways they never have before.

WDFA Custom Tees opened its doors with one idea in mind, to change the way people shop for custom clothing. Instead of chasing large orders to provide affordable pricing, WDFA uses technology (print and online) to help create efficiencies that are passed on to their customers. The process begins with using sourced and ethically produced t-shirts which are then printed using direct-to-garment technology.

Unlike traditional screen printing, direct-to-garment printing allows for beautiful prints without the setup and start-up costs associated with screen printing. While most industry traditionalists think the technology still has a ways to go, WDFA owner Raj Prasad thinks otherwise: “Like any other new technology, direct garment has its downsides. into consideration and control the manufacturing process as much as creating beautiful prints every time.” Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing works more like digital printing and desktop printing where the printing happens directly onto the garment.

WDFA uses DTG printing to eliminate the minimums needed to find sales savings and works with schools and nonprofits to stretch their budgets and raise funds in ways they have never done before. .

“One of our pilot programs with a local high school involves us providing pricing as if the school makes hundreds of impressions and providing the online infrastructure so students can order directly from our website. Orders are fulfilled on our premises and sent directly to students’ homes. The school went from a few thousand dollar bill and a logistical nightmare of handing out t-shirts and collecting payments , to print only the t-shirts ordered, and to collect a donation check for a portion of each shirt sold. explains Prasad, “It’s pretty cool to be able to provide solutions to our public schools that not only save them time and headaches, but offer them an avenue for fundraising.”

WDFA does something similar with the nonprofits it works with. By offering wholesale pricing and no minimums, WDFA makes it easier for nonprofits to test ideas and produce only what is needed. “Most people don’t know this, but it takes about 500 to 650 gallons of water to make a t-shirt,” says Prasad. “Once you learn this, do you really want to print t-shirts you don’t need?” “According to Prasad and most DTG experts, if DTG is done well, the general consumer will not be able to tell the difference between DTG and screen printing. DTG prints one shirt at a time, uses eco-soluble inks and mostly suitable for commercial production (after 200 units, the price becomes less competitive).
