Fabletics launches a line of t-shirts designed by black artists

Fabletics has released four limited-edition BHM T-shirts in collaboration with Melissa Koby and Rob Lewis, two artists dedicated to continuing the conversation about black representation. Titled ‘Kindred’, ‘Harmony’, ‘Africobra’ and ‘Festac 77’, each original illustration represents the desire for peace and unity among diverse underrepresented communities. As part of this collaboration, Fabletics has pledged a $50,000 donation in support of two organizations selected by the two artists, Community Spring and Imagine Black Futures, whose missions are dedicated to strengthening the black community.

“My designs are usually placed in a soft landscape to convey a sense of tranquility, with subjects from diverse backgrounds symbolizing the balance of power,” Koby explains. “I hope women around the world will see a reflection of themselves in my designs.”

“Learning about the legendary World Festival of Black and African Arts and Culture, more commonly known as FESTAC, gave me space to dream and permission to celebrate the power of coming together for the sole purpose of deepening the connection with ourselves and with each other,” Lewis explains. “I chose a protective hand, cowrie shells, and a triangular pattern meant to symbolize prayer on the Civil War-era quilts, which made me remind me to always honor the depth and richness of my culture.”

The limited edition t-shirts are designed on the silhouette of Fabletics’ “Go-To” t-shirt, are casual and gender neutral. Tees are available on Fabletics.com and in retail stores.
